ABOUT US

Airport Development Corporation is an entity which is a division of Clendenen Development Company and was formed by the founder of Clendenen Development Company, Darrell D. Clendenen, to pursue his passion for aviation, and his commitment to the planning and construction of general aviation facilities in geographic areas and communities that have a desire, and the need for the development of their airports but lack both the funding and organizational structure to satisfy their desire and meet those needs.

Mr. Clendenen has been flying for over forty years, is a licensed pilot rated in both rotorcraft and multi-engine fixed wing, has owned several aircraft, and is the owner of a Twin Commander which he uses in his development business. His involvement in general aviation as a pilot, his education, and his experience as a licensed contractor, real estate broker and practicing litigation attorney specializing in construction defect litigation, provided him with a foundation and unique insight which benefited him when he first ventured into airport ground leasing and the development of aviation facilities in the late 1980's.

Upon completing his undergraduate work at California State University, Long Beach, and obtaining his JD degree from Western State University Law School in 1977 Mr. Clendenen became a licensed attorney and remains a member of the California State Bar Association. Using both his education and the experience he gained working part-time as a real estate appraiser for a Savings and Loan and helping oversee their construction loan department while attending graduate classes and law school, Mr. Clendenen made his career choice which was to create a development and construction company that would not only own the projects they chose but would plan, construct, market and manage them.

After having acquired all of the appropriate licenses, in 1979 Clendenen Development Company was born. To raise capital to finance the projects pursued in the early days the company obtained permits from the State of California to raise capital through the formation of limited partnerships. During the 1980's and 1990's Clendenen Development was involved in the planning, construction, marketing and managing of over twenty-five industrial parks, commercial business centers, office parks, and airport developments totaling over six million square feet of floor space. Over fifty percent of the projects developed by Clendenen Development are still owned by the original partners and managed by Clendenen Development Company or its wholly owned property Management subsidiary Group Financial Inc.

The daily activities and the industrial commercial projects currently being planned and developed by Clendenen Development are now under the control and management of Bryan Clendenen. Mr. Bryan Clendenen worked for Clendenen Development for several years before pursuing his undergraduate degree from California State University at San Luis Obispo and his MBA from University of Miami. Upon completing his international finance program at University of Miami and obtaining his MBA he was hired as the CEO of Clendenen Development and has held that position since 2001.

While Darrell Clendenen is not involved in the commercial and industrial development projects of Clendenen Development to the extent he was in the past he is overseeing and personally managing the airport projects undertaken by Airport Development Corporation. The projects which Clendenen has been involved with where their entity was instrumental in every phase of the development include hangar projects in Murrieta California, Sacramento, Lincoln California, Fort Worth Texas, and Chino California. In addition to actually constructing and owning aviation facilities Airport Development Corp has acted in the capacity of consultant with the City Attorney to prepare the Airport lease documents for the City of Sacramento, consulted in the creation of the fixed based operator minimum standards document for the County of Riverside, California and negotiated FBO leases for facilities at several airports.

Contrary to what some may believe, Airport Development Corp believes that aviation is in its infancy. With the coming of the very light jet ("VLJ") and the increase in interest and purchases of the light jet ("LJ") the demand on general aviation airports will increase significantly and the need for facilities will grow exponentially. Land at airports within the metropolitan areas of our country is finite. The government has no plan for the future expansion of general aviation and because of that it is imperative that those of us in aviation facilities development, as well as government agencies managing airports within their municipalities make it their goal and primary objective to maximize their assets and accommodate the maximum number of operators at the lowest possible cost while always keeping safety as the primary focus. Those of us at Clendenen Development and Airport Development Corporation are proud of our contribution toward achieving the goals and objectives we have identified as critical and it is our intention to continue to focus on the needs of general aviation and those responsible for the facilities necessary to its advancement.
